Flickering lanterns,
Poisoned freedom;
No, these cursed pens
Ain’t done
Just yet.
Suffocating shrines,
Tired minds;
No, these lungs
Ain’t deflated enough
Just yet.
Wavering vision,
Exhausted rhythm;
No, these bloody hands
Ain’t done bleeding
Just yet.
Aching eyes,
Weary spine;
No, those atrocious jaws
haven’t pierced deep enough
Just yet.
Breathless Silence
Screams of their abominable deeds;
Interestingly, all those shrieks
Reek of familiarity.
For, we’ve witnessed
How the World feasts
On every cursed Dream
And the abused Melodies.
Why, they even outlined
All the silver linings
With all their rusted verses;
Stole every Will
That succoured those hollow vessels
To sustain;
Pulverised every inspiration
That fueled every vision
Anyone ever dared to create;
Measured existence
From the pain
Of every Being’s shame.
Every flame that ever dared
To ignite from the spark,
Drowned in those drying tears
That died as marks.
Squalled the Graves
Of when the ink failed
And the words flailed.
Yet whispered the Fate,
“If only Rome was built in a day….. “
When the going gets tough,
The tough get going.
Yet only the Fools are the ones
Who dare to tread the path
Before Angels.
So, Why seek approval of the World
You’re meant to change?
Why survive, learning the trade,
When you’re meant to make the rules of the game?
So, this is rendered
To those exiled Angels
and the unstoppable Warriors;
To the ones who risked to breathe
The condemned air of Hope;
To the fallen Fighters
And the venturous Fools;
To the ones who died everyday
Just to feel alive someday;
To the ones who made it through Hell
To find their Heaven;
To the Loners
And the Wishful Thinkers;
To everyone
Who will, one day, say,
“Once upon a day
I dared to live.”

You’re very welcome, I quite envy people who can write verse…my own writing is novel based. There’s something about poetry that, in relatively small stanzas, gives very deep imagery. In truth it’s only since I started blogging that I properly looked at this sort of thing. I find it very inspiring now 😊

At first, I was not a big fan of poetry. Ii got inspired by very weird circumstances, myself. In 9th grade, I had this English teacher who asked us to write a poem using personification. So, I wrote a poem on ‘pencil’, spontaneously. When I got it checked, she blamed me of plagiarism. Even after justifying her, she remained of her opinion. Well, although I couldn’t get her to trust me, it still inspired me for writing more.
(*pheww* this got off rails really fast)
Point is, anything can inspire…. took me some time to dig up pain and shame, but it’s worth it. 😉

Ha ha, straight into conversation like absent friends…just as it should be! Tough though that, nobody likes that accusation thrown at them. I was put off literature for ages after having to study Thomas Hardy’s The Trumpet Major for my school English literature exam…on top of that the poetry section was also by him. Sad to say it bored me stupid so I avoided classics for ages and poetry for even longer! Fortunately Shakespeare saved the day 😊

Hahaa I know, right?!
Dang, I can only imagine that.
The Bard to the rescue! XD
Will Always adore his work. 😉

Indeed…it was very onerous…my Emgkisg teacher told me one of my essays was a bit waffly and my reply that it was in the tone of the book was received poorly 🤔 Much Ado about Nothing that was 😊

Wow! What a powerfully written script of a poem. I have recently lost my oldest son, and your words touched my heart. Thank you for sharing.

Oh, my god. I’m extremely sorry for your loss.
I’m warmed to see that my writings don’t go in vain. You gave some worth to these hollow words of mine. 🙏thank you.
